Tiggly Launches a Complete Math Learning Solution for Early Elementary Grades

Tiggly Digits + Symbols Math Platform designed specifically for schools is now available for pre-order from April 17th to June 16th. This is the first math platform that brings traditional hands-on math manipulatives into students’ digital learning and is fully aligned with Common Core, TEKS, and Florida Math Standards related to numbers for kindergarten and 1st grade.

On the Teacher Dashboard, teachers can adjust settings and math difficulty for an individual or group of students, create their own levels, and track student’s data. Tiggly’s Learning Software is interactive with the hands-on manipulatives and adapts to student’s learning pace while providing scaffolding and feedback to help them master the math content.

Aperture Education Launches Essay Contest with $1,000 College Scholarship Prize

Interested students submit an essay describing the non-academic skills that
helped them get through high school

Charlotte N.C. (April 12, 2017) — Succeeding in high school and college often requires more than just good grades. Strong social and emotional skills are also important. To highlight this, Aperture Education has launched an essay contest asking high school seniors and college students to write about the non-academic skills that helped them get through high school.

The public will vote on the essays and Aperture will choose a winner from the three essays receiving the most votes. This individual will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. YouthBuild Charter School of California Hosts 4th Annual CODEchella Event
at L.A. Trade Tech College

(Los Angeles, CA – April 12, 2017) On Saturday, April 8th, YouthBuild Charter School of California (YCSC) and presenting sponsor Second Spectrum, hosted a 12-hour coding event called CODEchella at Los Angeles Trade- Technical College. At the event, twenty-five YouthBuild students worked in teams of three to five alongside coding mentors from local tech companies, including Factual, Second Spectrum, Firebrain, and Collab, to design websites for small businesses in South Los Angeles.The students, all of whom are between the ages of 16-24 and are former high school dropouts, previously had little to no experience in coding. To prepare for the event, the students spent a week of their Spring Break attending a coding boot camp taught by Emma Cunningham, Senior Software Engineer at Second Spectrum. The boot camp included classes in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Adobe Photoshop, designed to help the students learn skills that could translate into jobs to lift them out of poverty.
