Charlotte N.C. (April 5, 2017) — Understanding and building on students’ social-emotional strengths is key to helping them reach their full potential. SEL expert Dr. Amanda Nickerson will lead a free webinar at 2 p.m. EDT on April 25, 2017 to help educators understand the advantages of focusing on social and emotional strengths. Dr. Nickerson will also discuss strength-based assessment measures and how this data can link to interventions.

Dr. Nickerson is a professor of school psychology and director of the Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention at the State University of New York’s University of Buffalo campus. Her research focuses on school violence and bullying, and the critical role that schools, peers, and families play in preventing violence and building the social-emotional strengths of youth. Dr. Nickerson is also an author, a licensed psychologist, a nationally certified school psychologist, and a fellow of the American Psychological Association. She also serves as Coordinator of Research for the National Association of School Psychologists.
The webinar is part of Aperture Education’s ongoing work to support educators, administers and out-of-school-time providers in implementing social-emotional learning programs within their schools.
