Engaging students in the classroom can be difficult – especially when they feel they have little motivation to learn. To prevent them from going off-task or getting too distracted, it’s important to capture their attention as soon as they walk into the classroom. Displaying videos or slideshow presentations on a whiteboard and expecting students to take notes aren’t always going to work when it comes to engaging students. 

That’s where 1:1 learning comes in – students use a mobile device to interact with learning resources and personalize their learning experience, encouraging them to become active learners. They’re switched on and ready to take part in class activities, further developing their learning.

Redwood City, California -- July 7, 2015 -- Alan Moonsoo Kim, CEO of edtech startup BeNative, today announced the opening of the BeNative Content Lab in Silicon Valley under director Jonathan Moore. This marks the company's first step in its global expansion efforts in the United States. 


BeNative provides a global business English learning platform to corporations and customers throughout East Asia, specifically including China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. 
BeNative's business English courses are based on the video interviews and presentations of more than 100 American business leaders, including top executives from 3M, Box, and General Motors. These executives introduce their business models and share business strategies in English, where the content is then used by language analysts to create lessons and exercises.

High Fidelity Announces $15K EduTech Grant Challenge

High Fidelity is building a virtual reality platform that will enable you to set up immersive and interactive learning experiences quickly and affordably. By downloading High Fidelity’s free Stack Manager you can host your own virtual classroom environment securely, create or buy 3D content from others in standard formats, and interact and collaborate with students in real-time using a variety of peripherals.

High Fidelity will be awarding up to three $5,000 grants to teams or individuals who, using the High Fidelity platform, can create a unit that is HMD (e.g. Oculus™) featured, High school age appropriate, STEM focused, and Social (can be experienced by >3 people together).

In addition to the $5,000 grants, awarded proposals will receive technical support for their course development, course content hosting on High Fidelity’s servers as needed, and featured placement in the High Fidelity online marketplace.
