As more and more schools incorporate technology into classroom activities and homework assignments, even young students must learn to type quickly and accurately.

Modern standards-based education reform means that keyboarding is often on the list of required skills at specific grade levels, and students who are unable to touch type run the risk of falling behind in their homework assignments, or being unable to complete online tests. eReflect believes that every student needs to learn the essentials of touch typing, and Typsey promises to answer that need in classrooms of any size.

Typsey is a keyboarding program that eReflect has designed for use by educational institutions. This program teaches basic and advanced typing skills to students from age 7 and up. The program can be provided to students as a regular stand-alone keyboarding class, and can also be easily integrated into an existing IT or technology-focused classroom curriculum.

Easy-to-Follow Training Videos

Typing lessons begin with short videos that clearly explain finger positions and keystrokes. Students are reminded to keep their hands, head, and body in the proper position, something that prevents them from falling into habits that could lead to future repetitive stress injury problems. Once students have mastered each technique, they are given a series of exercises that require them to apply what they just learned.

Adaptive Learning and Custom Lessons

The program has two important features that make it stand out: individualized instruction and administrative customization. First, the system adapts to each student's individual learning needs by adjusting the exercises according to the student's latest results in typing speed and accuracy. The program also prompts and encourages students to repeat or review activities where they did not score well. Secondly, the training text that the system uses in many of the games and advanced activities is completely customizable. This means that teachers and students can import documents and even entire lessons into the database, allowing students to practice typing with texts that are immediately relevant to them - for example, a list of spelling words they need to learn, or a chapter of a science book they have to read. This speeds up the students' overall educational progress as it helps them increase their typing speed.

Real-Time Goal and Progress Tracking

Although Typsey can be completely self-paced and self-directed, teachers can facilitate the learning process by monitoring each student's progress towards their learning goals in speed and accuracy. One-click access to the statistics and charts for a student means that teachers can track students in real time, and help them work on specific issues before they become serious problems. The charts also provide visual proof to the student that they are improving, which will motivate them to engage in regular practice sessions. Status points are awarded for completed activities, and each student will get a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Fun For Students, Easy For Administrators

When eReflect was developing Typsey, one main concern was to avoid putting any additional burdens on teachers or administrators in terms of time, effort, or technological requirements. The result is an easy-to-use interface that makes this program an outstanding tool for any school environment. While students are having fun with the wide range of advertisement-free typing games included in the system, teachers can relax knowing that the cloud-based app technology means there is less bandwidth usage. No ads and low bandwidth provide a seamless, uninterrupted experience for the students and the administrators. If any problems do arise, eReflect's dedicated support team are on call 24/7 to answer questions and resolve issues.

Flexible and Affordable

eReflect chose to offer Typsey using cloud-based app technology in order to provide schools of all sizes with subscription options at affordable prices. The company offers generous academic discounts, and pricing varies based on the size of the organization. Because of this flexibility, any school can incorporate this essential instruction in its classrooms.

eReflect invites interested teachers and school administrators to request a free trial of the software, so that they can see how easy it is to integrate the keyboarding program into their current lesson plans. Touch typing and keyboarding skills are essential to prepare students for today's highly-competitive job market, and eReflect offers Typsey to help educators and students achieve this important goal.
