Huntington Station, New York, Feb. 4, 2014 –– Teq, a leading educational technology and professional development company, today announced a new multi-class blended course designed to help K-12 schools and districts effectively leverage student data for the best results in personalized learning.  The full release can be found below...

The new class, called “Using Data to Personalize Learning,” was co-developed and is co-taught by Teq and education industry leader Sharnell Jackson, based on her highly-acclaimed model for data-driven instructional decision making.

The new Teq/Jackson data-driven course is designed to assist administrators, curriculum coaches, and teachers in making data-driven instructional decisions based on the relevant common school-wide assessment data that the school currently generates from its instructional systems, and data from the state.  The course’s systematic approach to data use provides individualized classroom offerings based on the instructional and learning needs of teachers and students.

Patrick Healy Middle School in East Orange, New Jersey is offering the course to its staff in conjunction with its vision for better serving the needs of all students by using data school-wide, an initiative that has the support and involvement of the New Jersey teacher’s union.

Teq and Ms. Jackson are delivering the course to Patrick Healy Middle School in a blended format that capitalizes on the school’s widespread use of technology. Educators participate in online sessions while also engaging in face-to-face learning with Teq's instructional technologists, who are also licensed teachers, and focus on individual teacher's styles and needs. The course also includes voluntary observations of classroom instruction, after school program intervention strategies, and modeling lessons that Teq designed based on the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Model Curriculum Student Learning Objectives for Reading, Writing and Mathematics.

"The promise of personalized learning is directly tied to effectively and efficiently using relevant student data. With the right strategies in place, data-driven programs help to guide educators so they can best address each child’s unique learning situation," said Joe Dixon, Chief Learning Officer of Teq. "We have a long history of providing exceptional professional development and we are proud to be at the forefront in helping schools develop ways to leverage the power of data and technology to tailor instruction and more importantly, ignite individual student curiosity and support teacher creativity."

According to educator Sharnell Jackson, "We are at the beginning of a new era in education where the process in using data and technology can provide strong, explicit guidance for the classroom teacher to inform instruction and personalize learning environments.  The new blended course we are offering through Teq has the potential to really galvanize an entire school or district and lead to huge breakthroughs in instruction.”

The new Teq course “Using Data to Personalize Learning” is now available for schools in the state of New Jersey and nationwide. For more information, visit www.teq.com or call 877-455-9369.
