NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 14, 2016) - Brainly, the world's largest social learning community for students, today announced that it has acquired the U.S.'s leading peer-to-peer study help platform, OpenStudy. Together as one community, the Brainly and OpenStudy platforms will offer students the most comprehensive, collaborative online learning tool available to encourage academic exploration.

OpenStudy's engaging, real-time study experience has attracted millions of users to date. Those users will be invited to join Brainly's existing 60 million monthly users to create a single global community with the joint mission of sharing knowledge between students through digital conversations. More immediately, both platforms will continue as separately branded entities with their own respective websites and apps, while sharing knowledge and data to improve the learning experience for users of both platforms.

"OpenStudy was started by professors from Emory University and Georgia Tech who understood the importance of enabling students to help one another achieve success and build confidence. Brainly is completely aligned with this same vision," said Brainly CEO Michal Borkowski. "With the acquisition of the OpenStudy platform, Brainly has created the best peer-to-peer platform for students to follow their curiosity and gain a deeper understanding of a wide variety of subjects along their academic journey."

Last month, Brainly announced a $15 million Series B funding round led by Naspers, intended to accelerate Brainly's growth globally and expand its presence in the United States. With the acquisition of the OpenStudy platform, Brainly continues that commitment by empowering students in the U.S. and around the world to help one another answer questions regarding class assignments or discussions, or to simply to learn more about a specific subject matter.

"Joining forces with Brainly was, excuse the pun, a no-brainer," said Preetha Ram, CEO and Co-Founder of OpenStudy. "Our two brands have synergy around one common goal: to enhance the way students learn outside of the classroom. Together with Brainly, we can now offer our users a much larger community from which to request help and establish connections."
