Silver Spring, Md. (Thursday, July 16, 2020) – Discovery Education–the global leader in standards-aligned digital curriculum resources and professional learning for K-12 classrooms–today introduced a new update to the award-winning Discovery Education Experience that will save educators valuable time when they return to teaching this fall.

This new update helps educators using Experience access personalized digital content and teaching resources faster than ever, saving them precious time no matter where learning is taking place.

Experience, Discovery Education’s flexible K-12 learning platform, connects educators to a vast collection of compelling high-quality, standards-aligned content, ready-to-use digital lessons, and professional learning resources vetted by Discovery Education’s expert content team.  Together, these resources give educators everything they need to facilitate instruction in any learning environment and create lasting educational impact.

Now, thanks to an entirely redesigned MyDE Homepage whose new layout is based directly on educator feedback, finding just the right digital resources for remote, in-class, or hybrid lessons has become even easier.  On the enhanced MyDE page, teachers can organize their resources so that the right content is at their fingertips and available whenever they need it for any subject they teach. In addition, Discovery Education has improved educators’ ability to personalize their content feed through a new recommendation engine on the MyDE Homepage.  When teachers select the appropriate grade levels, subjects, and interests, Experience’s new recommendation engine suggests specific resources tailored to the user’s needs that they may find helpful in their classroom practice.

Along with this important update, the Discovery Education team continues adding, contextualizing, and organizing exciting new content and timely resources to Experience each month in response to current events and the ever-evolving needs of educators. These resources, sourced from trusted partners, reviewed, and curated by Discovery Education’s team of content experts and aligned to state and national standards, help educators bring the outside world into teaching and learning every day. Recent content additions include:

  • NASA and SpaceX: Journey to the Future-Join Elon Musk and experts from SpaceX and NASA on their mission to revolutionize space exploration.
  • Dissent, Equity, & Inspiring Change Channel-Find support for facilitating conversations around implicit bias, equity, and social justice in this carefully curated collection.
  • Common Sense Education Channel-Present authentic challenges and digital dilemmas to students that build the skills needed to succeed as learners, leaders, and citizens.

Finally, Experience is designed to work within school systems’ existing infrastructure and workflows.  Through expanded partnerships with Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, and now Clever, integrating Experience into existing IT architecture is easier than ever.

“The latest enhancements to Discovery Education Experience will save our district’s teachers valuable prep time that they can now spend with students,” said Dr. Sylvia J. Diaz, the Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and School Choice at the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. “That, and the fact that Discovery Education is constantly working to keep Experience’s powerful content both timely and relevant, make this resource one of the cornerstones supporting our back-to-school strategy.”

Educators using the enhanced Discovery Education Experience also receive support from the Discovery Education Community. A global community of education professionals, the Discovery Education Community connects members across school systems and around the world through social media, virtual conferences, and in-person events, fostering valuable networking, idea sharing, and inspiration.

“At Discovery Education, we believe the educator’s input is the most important ingredient in every service enhancement we make,” said Discovery Education President of K-12 Education Scott Kinney. “The new features and content recently added to Discovery Education Experience are in direct response to the feedback we’ve heard from teachers and administrators in the field, and we look forward to helping educators and students everywhere continue learning this fall either in school or at home.”
