November 3, 2014 —PITTSBURGH — Niche, a research site that blends millions of community reviews and opinions with hard data, today revealed its updated K-12 site which compares over 100,000 public and private schools and districts. The new site, a major upgrade to the K-12 beta product launched in May 2013, now features 27 million reviews and opinions from 300,000 students and parents.

Users can explore new features like in-depth school profiles, reviews, student outcomes, and a map search tool. To better digest the depth of content available on Niche, the site also provides high-level rankings and detailed report cards for easy comparison.

“Today internet giants like Zillow still rely on archaic services like GreatSchools’ data which is based on one-dimensional state assessment scores,” says CEO Luke Skurman. “So when finding a place to live, people aren’t equipped with any real insight into the schools in an area. It’s not fair that people must choose neighborhoods and pay school district taxes with such little understanding of their local area schools. Our K-12 site provides that much-needed transparency.”

The new free site is available at https://k12.niche.com. See below for a preview of the just-released 2015 K-12 school rankings.
