One of the biggest perks of document digitization is the ability to localize document management and store all your important files on your computer. Being an educator implies juggling multiple documents at a time, be it paper essays, lecture plans, assignments, grade reports, or other teaching materials.

Although many of those documents already come in a digital format by default, sometimes you need to reuse an old paper file, usually archived electronically in the form of a scanned document.

And that is a road full of obstacles. Scanned documents are often saved as image-based PDF files. Such PDF can’t be converted using regular, widely available PDF to Word converters. Scanned PDFs can be made editable either by retyping or using an OCR PDF converter. OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition - a tool that recognizes the text from an image PDF and converts it to an editable digital file format like Microsoft Word’s .docx.

One of the tools that can do this without any cost is Investintech’s online PDF OCR tool. The tool provides high quality PDF to Word conversions of both scanned and native PDF files, without any limitations to the file size or number of conversions. The service itself is completely free and documents converted to fully editable Word files are safely delivered to a specified email address.

Additionally, the tool is an extremely easy to use. The whole process of extracting text from the image consists of three simple steps:

1) Select scanned PDF for conversion.
2) Type in the email address.
3) Hit “Start” to initiate the conversion process.

Once the conversion process has been completed, you will receive an email with a download link. Download your perfectly usable .docx file over the next 24 hours and start editing. Remember only that once the 24 hours have expired, your scanned and converted file will be fully deleted from Investintech’s servers. This is only due to protecting your file and data privacy and security.

This nifty online scanned PDF to Word conversion tool with a simple user interface will enable you to efficiently reuse those old scanned documents and save a lot of time on manual retyping. Make use of all your old, archived teaching materials that only occupied space on your hard drive, or even worse, on your shelves!
