Edtech startup magikbee has launched kiddZtube Academy, a platform for early years educators that enables them to create educational video-quizzes from YouTube content by augmenting (or adding in) pop–up questions to each video.  The platform is designed to transform YouTube into an educational resource for teachers, giving them control over video-learning.

kiddZtube Academy is focused on preschool kids - with quiz questions designed to test spelling, counting, colors and other core skills - but magikbee is further developing the tool and will soon launch a version targeting elementary school teachers and students.

On kiddZtube Academy, teachers can select any video publicly available on YouTube to create a video-quiz. Questions are inserted by stopping on an image during the video that will accompany the pop-up question. The video-quizzes are delivered via an app - available on iOS and Android, with Windows coming soon – for use in the classroom, or to share with kids at home (with some parental help!)

The kiddZtube app is also available to parents and children at home around the world, and comes with 1,000 pre-made, teacher-curated video quizzes.

“We developed kiddZtube Academy because teachers started asking us if they could use kiddZtube to create their own video-quizzes and playlists,” says magikbee CEO Hugo Ribeiro. “Teachers said that they already use quite a lot video resources in the classroom but that the experience could be improved. They also liked the ability of kiddZtube Academy to give kids 'homework' in a fun way."
