Louisville, KY -- November 2017 - With Computer Science Education Week1 approaching on December 4-10 of this year, Let’s Start Coding has announced that they are an official Hour of Code2 Activity Partner. Let’s Start Coding joins approximately 100 other organizations that have created free introductory coding activities that have been approved by the Hour of Code staff.

The activity, called Code Car Simulator, allows students grades 4-12 to learn typed coding by following seven guided lessons. The lessons allow students to blink lights and manipulate buttons on an on-screen circuit board.

“We’re very excited that Code Car Simulator has been accepted as an official Hour of Code activity,” said Weston Hagan, director at Let’s Start Coding, “and our goal is to give millions of kids the chance to try out typed computer coding and inspire them to create something new.”

Teachers may access free lesson plans and standards alignments to use with their students. Current standards alignments include:

  • ●  Common Core English
  • ●  Common Core Math
  • ●  Next Generation Science
  • ●  International Society for Technology in Education Standards
  • ●  Computer Science Teachers Association Standards

The activity is accessible at www.hourofcode.com/learn/robotics or through www.letsstartcoding.com/hoc.
