(SAN DIEGO, CA) Sept. 13, 2018 – Learning Upgrade, an innovative edtech company providing digital, differentiated literacy and math curriculum designed to support adult learners to create learning breakthroughs, today announced that it has launched math courses for the General Educational Development (GED®) test and the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET®).

The GED® Math and HiSET® Math courses prepare learners for success on these challenging tests with engaging lessons and problem-solving activities that teach the key math topics. The courses go far beyond simple practice tests to actually teach learners the math they need and give learners confidence to pass the test. Students move through 60 sequenced lessons that build up their math skills and then master a final challenge to prepare them for success on the test. Learners can complete lessons on their own smartphones using the Learning Upgrade App, or use tablets and computers.

“These tests, with sections on reading, writing, science, social studies, and math, are designed to give adult learners the equivalent of a high school diploma, but many are unable to pass the math portion,” said Vinod Lobo, the co-founder and CEO of Learning Upgrade. “A diploma is an important gateway to gainful employment and further education, but many adult learners have had to put their lives on hold after failing the math sections of the tests. We’re honored and excited to offer the tools they need to meet their goals with these new courses.”

Designed to help first-time test takers prepare for the exam or to help those who have previously failed the math portion learn math in a new way, each of the two courses has 60 lessons with detailed examples, practice problems, and video help covering different math topics from the GED® and HiSET® exams. Videos, games, and rewards make prepping for the tests fun and engaging, and students can practice taking a timed test as many times as they like before the big day.

In a trial at Sweetwater Adult Education in Chula Vista, CA, learners who had previously failed the HiSET® math section were able to pass the section and earn a high school equivalency diploma after completing a course of lessons using the Learning Upgrade app on their own smartphones at home.

Learning Upgrade has proven effective in a variety of literacy settings, including adult schools, libraries, community colleges, migrant education, public housing, refugee centers, and workforce training. After successful pilots, Learning Upgrade has expanded deployments at Queens Public Library in New York, Bunker Hill Community College Boston, and READ/San Diego Public Library.

The Learning Upgrade app is available now on the Google Play Store and iTunes. For more information about Learning Upgrade, please visit LearningUpgrade.com.
