Simi Valley, CA, Nov. 21, 2017 – Impero Software has been named a winner in the 2017 Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence for its flagship product, Impero Education Pro. The product won in the “Best Upgraded Products category.” The winners are featured on Tech & Learning online (https://goo.gl/iZyWxd) and will also be included in the magazine’s December print issue.

“We are honored to receive this award from Tech & Learning Magazine,” said Sam Pemberton, CEO of Impero Software. “As technology becomes more accessible to students during the school day through BYOD or 1:1 programs, it is essential for educators and administrators to have a way to make sure students are using the technology in a manner that is responsible and safe. Impero Education Pro is a powerful tool that has supported schools in safeguarding thousands of students by monitoring their use of this technology. We are proud to be recognized for this work.”

The Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence recognizes outstanding edtech products that help educators in the business of teaching, training and managing with technology. Hundreds of products were tested and judged by educators on their quality and effectiveness, ease of use, creative use of technology, and suitability for use in an educational environment.

“Our readers should feel confident that these technologies will enable them in the classroom, in the front office, and even off campus,” stated Tech & Learning Content Director Kevin Hogan on Tech & Learning’s web site.

Impero Education Pro combines classroom management, network administration, and internet safety features to support networks, empower teachers, and keep students safe online. The company works with organizations to develop keyword libraries relating to issues such as bullying, eating disorders, suicide, and more. The Education Pro software can detect if students type or view any of the keywords while using devices connected to a school network. It alerts the appropriate individuals at the school or district so they can determine next steps.

Impero Education Pro also includes classroom management functions that allow teachers to view student devices in real-time, share their screens, send or share files, take over or lock devices, create exams, assign tasks, and send messages to students. Schools can control passwords, manage inventory and licenses, control devices remotely or set computers to power on or off.

Impero Education Pro was updated this year to include:

  • Impero Insight – a cloud-based, cross-server reporting and analytics tool. It creates visually-rich, interactive reports of a school or district’s Education Pro data in a single, centralized view.
  • A new managed policy system that enables automated updates of keyword libraries and enhances the notification functionality of captured keywords.
  • Chrome OS functionality allowing Education Pro to be used across all major platforms.

Offering Impero Education Pro software is just one way Impero supports schools in keeping students safe online and promoting good digital citizenship. The company has partnered with advocacy organizations to produce white papers at the 2017 and 2016 Digital Citizenship Summits. It also released an Online Safety Handbook this year which provides resources and best practices for schools that are using Impero Education Pro. It also released a video earlier this month highlighting the dangers of bullying and sexting, and how online monitoring software can help schools detect problems before they escalate.
