Guest Post: Solving One of Higher Education’s Largest Problems with Technology

One of the largest trends in higher education is addressing retention/persistence and graduation issues. Colleges are focusing on this. Outsiders are focusing on this. Heck, even President Obama is focusing on this. The Whitehouse is holding the second College Opportunity Summit in December 2014, which will mainly be focusing on college readiness, specifically including increasing persistence and graduation for students.

One of the leading causes of low graduation and retention rates (and high student debt, for that matter) is changing majors and/or not pursuing the right major. The problem is that students don’t have effective means of figuring out what they should study before having to commit precious time and money. Options to figure out majors either lack authentic exposure to the major/career path, or are high-risk and/or high-cost opportunities, in both time and financial cost (college courses, Modern Guild, internships, etc.).

A new EdTech startup, MajorClarity, solves this by providing students the first opportunity to test-drive majors and career paths in a quick, easy, yet immersive manner through our online platform.

MajorClarity just wrapped up an awesome summer as one of 4.0 Schools’ portfolio companies, and is almost ready to bring its platform to market and start fighting back against low graduation and retention, and high student debt, but they need help crossing the finish line.

They just launched a Kickstarter campaign to complete platform development, and bring this to market. The rewards not only include exclusive platform access and the ability to help seriously innovate education, but also the chance to give back to underserved NYC students through their partnership with Camp Interactive!

Learn more about MajorClarity, their Kickstarter, and how you can support them with even just 1 click or $1 here!
