Aperture Education Launches Webinar Mini-Series on Using Evo Social/Emotional to Measure Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Free mini-series begins Oct. 24, 2017

Charlotte N.C. (Oct. 18, 2017) —  Social and emotional learning (SEL) company Aperture Education is holding a series of free, 30-minute webinars for schools and out-of-school-time organizations that are interested in learning more about implementing SEL programs and using SEL assessments.

The webinar series, which begins Oct. 24, 2017, will highlight why SEL programs and assessments are important, and how Aperture’s Evo Social/Emotional system can improve the effectiveness of SEL programs. Evo Social/Emotional uses the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA), to measure skills such as personal responsibility, self-management, relationship skills and healthy decision-making.

DESSA author Paul LeBuffe provides an introduction to SEL, why it is important and why it should be measured.
 
Part 2. Uncovering the DESSA-Mini: 3 p.m. EDT Nov 1, 2017
Senior Research Associate Jennifer Robitaille describes this Universal Screener and Progress Monitor. The DESSA-mini is a practical tool that can be used to screen a student in less than 1 minute.
 
Part 3. The DESSA: 11 a.m. EST Nov 9, 2017
Research Associate Alyssa Ciarlante will discuss the DESSA as the cornerstone of Evo Social/Emotional, and why it is the best option for assessing SEL.
 
Part 4. How to use the DESSA in an Out-of-School-Time Setting: 2 p.m. EST Nov 15, 2017
Senior Research Associate Jennifer Robitaille shares the how’s and why’s of using the DESSA with out-of-school-time programs.
 
Part 5. DESSA- A Measure of Outcomes: 3 p.m. EST Nov 20, 2017
DESSA author Paul LeBuffe explains how to use the DESSA as an outcomes measure to determine if your SEL program or curriculum is effective.
 
Part 6. Rooted in Science: 11:30 a.m. EST Nov 29, 2017
Research Associate Alyssa Ciarlante provides a deep dive into the psychometrics and research behind the DESSA.
 
Part 7. Intervention Strategies and Foundational Practices: 1 p.m. EST Dec 7, 2017
Trainer and SEL Consultant Lisa-Anne Williams discusses how to bolster SEL skills with Evo Social/Emotional’s intervention strategies.
 
Part 8. Behind the Scenes look at the Evo Social/Emotional system: 11 a.m. EST Dec. 13 2017
Director of Implementation Tara Ketner will share all the many features of the Evo Social/Emotional system.
 
Part 9. How to bring SEL to Your District/Program: 3 p.m. EST Dec 19, 2017
Director of Sales & Business Development Marc Kirsch will share how organizations can start an SEL program now.
 
This webinar series is part of Aperture’s ongoing work to support educators, administers and out-of-school-time providers in implementing social and emotional learning programs within their schools and programs. Its goal is to ensure members of school and out-of-school time communities, including adults, have the social and emotional skills needed to thrive.
