(Charlotte,NC) April 12, 2018 — Chicago Public Schools has added Aperture Education to its list of vendors approved to provide social-emotional learning (SEL) products to its schools. All vendors were selected after they applied and had their products vetted by the district. Following this period, products were approved by the board of education.

Aperture Education is the publisher of Evo Social/Emotional, an online SEL assessment and intervention system for students in grades K-8.The system uses the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA) to measure students’ social and emotional competencies. Evo Social/Emotional also provides growth strategies and foundational practices to strengthen social and emotional skills. Aperture Education was selected as a vendor in the district’s curriculum and materials category which includes “curricula and materials that support the delivery of structured interventions to address student barriers to learning before, during and after school.”

“We understand how important social-emotional learning is in helping students succeed, both in and out of the classroom,” said Jessica Adamson, CEO of Aperture Education. “Chicago Public Schools is a leader in supporting the social and emotional health of its students and we are pleased to become an approved vendor for the district.”

Chicago Public Schools is the nation’s third-largest school district. It adopted a revised Student Code of Conduct in 2012 focused on social and emotional learning and has a dedicated Office of Social and Emotional Learning which provides SEL training to administrators, teachers and counselors to support social-emotional learning.

Aperture Education supports educators, administrators and out-of-school-time providers in implementing social and emotional learning programs within their schools or programs.
