myON News: preK-8 News Articles within the myON Literacy Ecosystem

For those unfamiliar, myON is an online, interactive, digital library with over 10,000 books for pre-K-12 students. Teachers can use myON to assign books, create projects, encourage reading, assess student growth, and now, students can read the news as well! If you’re interested in reading more about myON in general, you can check out our previous review.

This review will focus on their news feature, which delivers developmentally appropriate content, and is updated year-round with a daily news feed within the myON literacy ecosystem.

Edswell is a free student resource that is designed to improve and support the college application process. Edswell can help students organize their search process, find universities that meet their criteria, breakdown the essay writing process, and so much more. It’s an absolutely excellent resource that I think can also help students who may not typically have counseling or advising services available to them.

Plus, Edswell is incredibly user friendly and makes the college application process less overwhelming and stressful. Let’s take a look!

Science in the Classroom (SitC) is an online resource from that folks at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The resource is meant to provide students with access to annotated research papers from Science’s journals, as well as provide teachers access to a wide variety of teaching materials that can be used to support the use of these articles in the classroom. It’s an excellent resource for the science classroom, so let’s take a look!

Stepping Stones 2.0 from ORIGO Education is a K-6 math program that offers both online and in-person/physical components. It’s an excellent, customizable resource that elementary teachers can use to provide students with an enormous variety of interactive math lessons, all of which are aligned to Common Core Standards. In addition to the interactive, digital content, Stepping Stones also includes hands on manipulatives and work journals so students can work without technology as well. Let’s take a look!

GradeMaster is a K-12 product designed by former teacher Ben Leven that is meant to help schools combine standards-based grading, IEP/504 management, and their Student Information System (SIS) into a single solution. Overall, GradeMaster is designed to help schools manage data of all types across all levels. We’ll take a look at the Admin, Teacher, and Parent/Student side of the product throughout this review.

Cubetto: A Robot to Teach Coding without Screens for Children 3+

Cubetto is a wooden robot that is designed to help students ages 3 and up learn programming basics without needing a computer or a screen. Inspired by the original LOGO turtle, Cubetto uses a simple programming language to introduce students to coding. The team has also created a collection of lesson plans, which can be used in preK-1 classrooms. It’s an excellent resource for introducing students to basic computer science concepts, so let’s take a look!
