School Robins: Digitally Collect & Organize Student Information

School Robins is a new, free service that aims to help administrators and school leaders collect and organize information about students and groups. It's an incredibly simple tool and offers a lot of time-saving possibilities.  So, let's take a minute and check it out!

Like usual here at the Roundup, let's start out with a quick video introduction from the team, so you can get the basic idea of how School Robins works:

Essentially, School Robins is a system to collect, collate, and organize information about students.  As you saw in the video, administrators and school leaders can send out "School Robins," which teachers then receive through email.  Then, the teachers fill out the required information and send the email back. School Robbins automatically takes the information and organizes it, thereby creating an easier system to find and manage student information and feedback.

Now that we've covered the basics, let's explore the site in a little more detail.  After you create your account, you'll need to import your staff list.  You can do this manually or by uploading a spreadsheet with the required information.  This will allow you to send out School Robins through your existing email system.

If you have any trouble with School Robins, they also provide an easy-to-follow tutorial (on the right side) and a demo class that you can experiment with.

After you have your staff imported into the system, you'll need to add your students.  You can also do this through an Excel file or if you use SIMS you can upload a CTF document.

And now you're ready to start Robbin-ing!  Just select what students you want information about, and what teachers you would like to collect information from, and your School Robin is almost ready to go.  It's an incredibly simple interface!

Creating Your School Robin

The final step before sending out your School Robin is to provide a subject and information request (i.e. what kind of student information are you looking for).  Then, School Robin will send out your request through your pre-existing email system, teachers aren't even required to have an account.

Then, after teachers complete the request and send the information back, School Robins will organize and store all the information in an easy-to-access manner.  In my mind, this is way better than searching through thousands of emails to find information, or copying and pasting information from emails into a different system.  And I also love how it's no extra work for teachers, all they need to do is reply to a normal email.

And basically, that's School Robins.  It's an easy to use system that helps manage and organize student information.  The service is free and it adds no additional work on the teacher's end of things.  If you're an administrator, a case manager, or a school leader who regularly collects information about student behavior and progress, I definitely recommend giving School Robins a try!

Plus, they have a great collection of video help tutorials if you find yourself having any issues with the program!  In short, it's a great service that I definitely recommend.
