Towards the end of this past school year, I noticed that student motivation was decreasing, and participation in classroom activities was not as it had been throughout the year. It was a busy time of year, with testing, sports, and other activities which kept students busy. The combination of these events was really affecting their performance in the classroom and diminishing overall interest in learning.  Continue reading the post here.

QuizPedia is an online quiz creation resource similar to Kahoot! and Quizizz, but with a few interesting differences as well.  QuizPedia markets itself as being designed primarily for students to create quizzes (which is possible with other services as well), but what is unique to QuizPedia is their interface and unique features.  There are also a few concerns to keep in mind as well, and you can read the full review here on our Review's Page.

Reviews | PASCO Scientific: Wireless Probes for K-12 Data Collection & Analysis

9/21/2016

Data collection and analysis are incredibly important STEM skills for students to become familiar with.  These skills help students understand how to identify patterns, how to look for trends, and how to solve complex problems using support from data, all of which are necessary when preparing our students to be 21st century learners.

Unfortunately, these skills are often overlooked, or touched on only briefly.  Many times teachers can be understandably intimidated by these types of tasks, particularly at the elementary level if they don’t have a science background.

This is where PASCO scientific comes in.  They have developed a collection of easy to use, wireless data collection probes that come with K-12 curricular resources and support materials designed to make data collection and analysis tasks easier for classroom teachers to implement.  The PASCO team has an excellent collection of new tools and lessons, and you can read our full review here.

Computational thinking is going to be a defining feature of the future—and it’s an incredibly important thing to be teaching to kids today. There’s always lots of discussion (and concern) about how to teach mathematical thinking to kids. But looking to the future, this pales in comparison to the importance of teaching computational thinking. Yes, there’s a certain amount of mathematical thinking that’s needed in everyday life, and in many careers.  Read the full post.
