So there you have it! A great tool for connecting students with teachers, tutors with tutees, or any other educational combo you can think of. When you first head over to Stoodle, just hit the big, green "Launch a Classroom" button to get things started. You'll be prompted for your name, and then you'll be ready to go!
Once you're in, you'll be presented with the main screen and Stoodle will ask for permission to use your microphone (because you can have a live chat with whoever you're collaborating with). From the main screen you can click on the Facebook, Twitter, or email logo to get an invitation link. At the bottom left you can see who is participating in the session and chat via text.
Most of the tools are fairly self-explanatory. You can draw shapes, upload images, draw free-hand, insert text, move items, and delete items. Plus, you can add multiple slides with the blue arrows at the bottom right.
And essentially, that's the app! It's incredibly simple, but it does what it set out to do, and it does it well. If you're looking to collaborate, or better learn a concept, Stoodle is an awesome free tool to try. Plus, you don't even need to sign up for an account to use it!
Suggestions for Improvement
Second, it would be wonderful if there was a way to record these sessions for later viewing. Yes, you can take screenshots of each page, which is a fairly effective solution. But one of the best features of Stoodle is that you can collaborate with audio conversation as well, and there's no way to save that. After speaking with the team, this is a feature they hope to implement in the future, but for now, it's not a possibility. However, you can always use a separate application (like Jing) to record a Stoodle session!
But, despite these minor suggestions, Stoodle shows a ton of educational potential. If you're looking to virtually collaborate, or you want to give your students an option for connecting with you outside of the classroom, give Stoodle a try!
