their creative use of Vernier sensors to introduce engineering concepts

BEAVERTON, Oregon, December 4, 2017 — Vernier Software & Technology is accepting applications for its 2018 Vernier Engineering Contest, which recognizes science, engineering, and STEM teachers for their creative uses of Vernier sensors to teach students engineering concepts and practices. Two winning teachers – one middle school teacher and one high school teacher – will each receive prizes valued at $5,500.

The tech world has responded to an increased focus on the importance of web development and computer programming by starting to cater to younger audiences. In an effort to generate an interest in the field, apps and mobile games are being released that teach coding and other programming topics to students in the K-4 education space. One example, KinderLab robotics, was actually reviewed in an earlier post for the EdTech Roundup!
