Apricot is a new tool that drives parent engagement. Fast, free, and easy to use, it is the first-ever application designed to encourage elementary and middle school students to engage their parents in the learning process. Apricot is looking to pilot in select schools starting in January  2015.

Canadian ‘Best Social Startup’ is trying to bring 
quality education to secondary victims of Ebola

Toronto, Canada (November 25, 2014): Over one million children in Liberia have been out of school since July, when the Ebola outbreak led the government to close all schools. The Rumie Initiative (Rumie) has taken action to prevent countless children from missing out on the benefits of education and technology. 


The social tech startup launched #EduOverEbola, an online crowdfunding campaign to send educational tablets to Liberia on November 20, 2014. Rumie surpassed its goal within 36 hours. Every dollar pledged to the Rumie Initiative’s Indiegogo campaign goes directly to the field.

After all, what is more important than bringing our centers of education into the modern age? That is where our future leaders and innovators are being grown and groomed. One way we can help bring schools into the future is by bringing the lines of communication up to speed between the parents and teachers and school administrators. 

After all, would you want dial-up when you could have high speed internet, or slow spotty cellphone service when you could have 4G LTE? Of course not!
